Mexicano

Also known as: King/Queen of the Court

The Mexicano is a dynamic social format where opponents are reshuffled each round based on current standings. This creates balanced, competitive matches throughout the event. Perfect for mixed skill levels.

Key Features

Dynamic Reseeding

After each round, players are ranked by points and paired accordingly. Top players face top players.

Balanced Matches

The ranking-based pairing ensures competitive games throughout, regardless of initial skill differences.

Social & Inclusive

Everyone plays every round—no eliminations. Great for building community and meeting new players.

Fast-Paced Action

Short matches to a point target keep energy high and allow many games in a session.

How It Works

01

Set Up Tournament

Configure points per match (e.g., 21), number of courts, and choose individual or fixed team mode.

02

Round 1: Random Draw

First round pairs are randomly assigned. Everyone plays and accumulates points.

03

Reseed & Repeat

Players are ranked by total points. 1st+3rd play 2nd+4th, 5th+7th play 6th+8th, and so on. Repeat for desired rounds.

04

Optional Finals

End with the leaderboard, or trigger semifinals/finals for top players to determine a champion.

Rules & Scoring

1 Match Structure

  • Matches played to a combined point target (e.g., 21 total points)
  • Point targets must be odd numbers to guarantee a winner
  • Example: Final scores could be 11-10, 12-9, 13-8, etc.

2 Serving

  • First serve: 1 serve from the right side
  • After that: 2 serves per team (left then right, like tennis tiebreak)

3 Scoring

  • Individual mode: Each player adds their pair's points to personal total
  • Fixed teams mode: Teams accumulate points together
  • Winner: Highest total points after all rounds (tiebreakers: head-to-head, point difference)
